Go See Cabaret!

This weekend we had the absolute pleasure of seeing Lafayette Civic’s rendition of Cabaret, and it was nothing short of stunning.  Featuring a brilliant cast of some new and familiar faces, that pull of an almost impossible task of making you love and hate them at the same time.  With a beautiful set that takes you back to pre-WWII Berlin, Cabaret is a wild and fun romp into the land of excess.  A great show to end the Lafayette Civic season, Cabaret is a must see for any mature lover of theater and musicals.  If you are looking for something fun and entertaining to pass the time in the next two weeks, go downtown to the Monon Depot or buy tickets online.  Cabaret is running on the weekends through May 23rd.

What 3 Apps Can You Not Live Without?

It’s been three months since moving to the world of Android, and I have not once felt the pangs of separation from the Berry.  In fact, now that I have a high functioning phone that doesn’t require a battery pull twice a day I have found that I am reliant on downloading and installing apps.  Its been great exploring the Market place for the latest & greatest additions and finding use for them in my every day life.
Since the first day of being a Droid owner I have found that only 3 apps have survived my whims of downloading and deleting.  I can not go one day without using these, and they are my essential picks.
  • Aldiko — By far the most used app on my Droid.  Aldiko is an easy to use eBook reader that is completely FREE.  It imports eBooks in the ePub format, and also has a repository of free downloads of classic novels and stories that are in public domain.  It also has two modes for Day Time and Night Time reading, allowing you to modify the brightness for your needs.  It is AWESOME.

  • Gameboid — My favorite game platform as a kid was the Gameboy and Gameboy Advance.  Pokemon, Zelda, Final Fantasy, all are games that I was and still am obsessed with and Gameboid easily allows me to go back and play these games on that gorgeous screen of my Droid while listening to my MP3s or Pandora.  Plus, the physical keyboard makes playing games that much easier.  If you have a collection of ROMs, Gameboid is for you.  I use the free version and have not once found myself wishing to spend $4 on the premium app, so save your money.

  • Evernote — This was a must have on my Berry, my desktop, my laptop, basically any computer or device I own has some version of Evernote installed. The effortless note syncing makes my life that much easier.  If you like Evernote make sure you get the app for your respective mobile device.

What are your essential apps that you can’t go one day without?

Something Fun For the Internet

London Calling 3D

I try and keep up with all the fun, and cool memes out there on the tubes, and have decided that it is time to start sharing my beautiful collection of animated gifs, funny videos, and awesome mashups.  This blog doesn’t seem like the appropriate outlet for those, and neither does my twitter account as I don’t want to spam or innundate those that don’t care about internet pop culture with my posts.

So, for those that care I will begin posting my funny photos, videos, and music over on my tumblog at http://kevinoshea.tumblr.com.  Fans of Trololololol, OMG Cat, Grizzly Sharktopus, and 3 Wolf Moon can now get their fill over there.

What are you listening to?

Music has been a part of my life from an early age, from chorus to being in a terrible punk band in high school.  I am almost always listening to something, anything, on my headphones at any given time during the day at work, the bus commute, or sitting in my den at home.  Mostly, my playlists consist of some sort of indie/singer songwriter stuff with a hint of punk/hardcore and a random pop song thrown in for good measure.

If I am in a funk and need some sort of kick in the pants I usually go right for my iTunes or Lala library and hit play.  I even spend time trolling the tubes for podcasts to add to my queue.  For those that don’t follow my every movement and action on social media and didn’t know about my Last.fm obsession for scrobbling my every tune, I have compiled a quick best of list of my top 5 tunes that I can’t live without.

Current Top 5 Songs in my Library

Avett Brothers — I and Love and You

Tegan & Sara — Alligator Tears (Kevin St. Croix Remix)

Josh Moore — Ghostly Reminders

Florence & The Machine — Howl

The River Bends — Looking for You
